Vice President of Accounting
Vice President of Accounting is needed for a well-established consumer products brand and will oversee Accounting operations and internal controls. This is a critical leadership role in a people-first company. The VP of Accounting will serve as a team mentor and will partner with the CFO and the VP of Finance to achieve Accounting excellence. Due diligence and best practices will be provided throughout internal teams and retail locations, establishing and forging partnerships. This role reports directly to the CFO and is hybrid onsite 2-3 days a week in NYC, Chelsea / Meat Packing District.
Overview of Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day Accounting activities while assessing needs and processes, unify and integrate other systems and protocols to create one streamlined system.

Lead and oversee the month-end, quarterly and upcoming year-end close process and delivery of financial statements. Collaborate with Finance to ensure timeliness, accuracy and due diligence.

Drive process improvements as needed, implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance quality of Accounting and Finance end product.

Provide and gather research, tools, reports. Leverage GAAP principles and other Accounting deliverables to safeguard compliance and allow data-driven decision making.

Implement standardized processes to ensure accurate and timely consolidation throughout multiple subsidiaries operating on different accounting systems.

Oversee annual audit preparation, communications, SEC filings, tax returns, etc.

Scale and delegate workload, create work flows and develop team, execute projects, assess current and future deliverables.

Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leaders and team leads in Operations, IT, HR, Marketing, Sales and offsite General Managers. Collaborate and deliver information to financial and non-financial audiences.

Team coach and mentor of 4 Accountants, leads a strong partnership with the Finance team.
Qualifications and Success Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or similar, required. Prefer active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and or postgraduate MBA.

Experience of 12 years minimum in Accounting or Finance with a recent focus on Accounting in retail or CPG industries. Director level will be considered.

Minimum 3-6 years, or more in a manager role or team lead with experience training others with Accounting practices and or various Accounting/ ERP technical systems.

Track record of applying SOP and GAAP principles to drive strategies and quality results with a team culture of Accounting excellence.

“Big 4” experience is preferred, but not required. Ability to analyze and leverage data, assess processes, make sound decisions, know when to influence and collaborate.

Experience delivering reports, statements and company status to all levels including financial and non-financial audiences, stakeholders, leaders and business partners.

Previous consolidations or multi-entity portfolio experience and related financial statement preparation (mergers, eliminations, investments) is preferred.

Strong reporting skills with intermediate to advanced Excel. Experience on various ERP systems is a plus, such as: SAP, Workday, Oracle NetSuite, etc.

Mandatory hybrid onsite 2-3 days a week in NYC, no remote. No travel required.
Salary range is $210,000 - $235,000 annual base, first year. The salary range is based on several factors such as overall applicable experience, relevant expertise and or niche experience, education level, certification(s) and location of the position. Title/ level is Vice President.
