VP of Finance

 

Career opportunity for a women's apparel brand, remote to start. In the future, the leader can work out of an office based in New York or Los Angeles.

The VP of Accounting/Finance will oversee month end close, internal controls, maintain and establish efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have apparel or consumer products background and experience managing full cycle Accounting projects as well as a small team.

Contributions & Leadership

  • Managing financial month end close process including timelines for GL postings and accruals.

  • Oversee general accounting function for revenue, balance sheet, fixed assets, summarized account information and trends.

  • Practice due diligence for monthly/quarterly/annual financial data in accordance with US GAAP.

  • Provide variance analysis for monthly forecasts and actual budget.

  • Serve as a business partner for internal cross teams to set and adhere to monthly budgets.

  • Set processes and streamline work as needed to improve efficiencies.

  • Review quality of Accounting team output, check for accuracy and timeliness.

  • Review and approve balance sheet GL reconciliation monthly, oversee AP/AR and cost accounting.

  • Assign and delegate projects within Accounting team, set priorities, KPIs and timelines.

  • Mentor, motivate, and develop junior team members, provide feedback and training,

  • Manage and oversee external audit and tax compliance and preparation.

  • May be assigned ad hoc reporting and special projects by CFO or other Executives.

Success Skills

  • Normally requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar.

  • Preferred minimum 10-12 years of progressive Accounting (or Finance) roles with management experience.

  • Apparel Accounting/Finance experience or consumer products industry required.

  • Preferred CPA or CMA, with some audit and/or public accounting.

  • Big 4 audit experience preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and build cross-functional relationships, all levels.

  • Critical and concise communication skills within team and throughout the company.
